How to remove unnecessary details in a downloaded 3d model?

There is a 3d model for the printer, in .stl format, I tried to break it into layers using the Repetier-Host program and remove the stone from the ring, assemble it back so that the model was just without a stone, it doesn’t work, maybe I’m doing something wrong, maybe this is done differently, tell me who knows

.stl is a format for hollow objects i.e. description of the object's shell.
By cutting into layers, you create gcode - a sequence of commands for the printer.
In fact, purely technically, you grind stl into "minced meat" with a slicer, which, as you know, cannot be turned back. Those. from gcode stl it doesn’t work out in any way and changing anything in gcode except for the print temperature is not a promising idea.
To edit stl, of course you need a stl editor
