How to remove the first character in input if the user entered an extra one in ngx-mask?

I use ngx mask to enter a phone number with a mask like (000) 000-00-00. I don’t understand how to make it so that if the user enters an extra character, it is inserted but the first one is deleted.
Here is an example
. For example, the user entered (799) 988-87-76, then presses 6 on the keyboard and the input becomes (999) 888-77-66, then presses 5 and the input becomes (998) 887-76-65 and so on more.
Maybe someone faced similar kind of problems?
