How to remove squares instead of Cyrillic?

Installed VirtualBox under Ubuntu 16.04 to run small containers to debug the project.
I also put lightweight Ubuntu-shki without Xs in containers, i.e. console. And when you start virtual machines in their console, instead of Cyrillic solid squares. And the font itself is kind of thick.
As I understand it, this is a problem in VirtualBox itself and its font settings, because in the same container under VMWare Cyrillic is displayed normally and in a thinner font.
How to change the font for the console in VirtualBox?
