I don’t know why, but the selection color (and any color customization in general) can be adjusted along the way as in the picture.
There are all possible tokens , there is also an auto-complete right in the file if you start typing.
To remove - you need to make it transparent, specify any color and 00 on the alpha channel, for example `#ffffff00`.
