How to remove a file with an exclamation point from GIT?

The project had a file named "!README.txt". I deleted it, but since the git project cannot save the changes, when I try to delete the file from the git with the git rm <file path> command, I get the message:
-bash: !README.txt: event not found
and, accordingly, the changes are not fixed.
