How to reinstall Ubuntu without losing programs and data?

Hello! Tell me how to reinstall Ubuntu without losing programs, configs and data (photos, documents, etc.)?
System and documents are stored on the same hard drive:

Make a backup of home.
You will lose only those programs and configs that were installed and changed outside of it.
If you want to save them, then make backups of the necessary configs.

just do not format the partition and
during installation you choose another one, mount the old partition and put the checkbox on top of
the main checkbox, remove the format
in the installer itself, you can search for incompatible packages
