facebook, twitter, for Russians vk
and leave the usual for conservatives
, no confirming links to the mail (only in case of urgent need). it is better to let the functionality be unavailable until the user clicks on the link from the mail to confirm (it should also be possible to resend). in general, take the minimum information from the user for the minimum functionality of the site, ask for everything else as needed

Only today the question was asked: How to make it easier for the user to register on the site?
Or are you interested in the technical part?

4 points:
- Password
- e-mail (optional)
- Capcha Everything is clear
with the login and password. e-mail is needed only for password recovery, i.e. no "confirm e-mail". Capcha to protect against spam and attacks in order to get data from the users table

The last time I did it, there were two forms: email and password. Instead of the password confirmation field, the "Show password" checkbox is checked. Login is similar: email/login and password. Login can be set in the settings after registration. Now I'm screwing up social networks, because it's even easier for the user.
