How to redirect a call to a site to another site (within the same computer)?

Hello.
Problem: There is one program that, when launched, accesses one site but does not download anything (it just polls the site and that's it). For a long time, the site 404 and the program is closed.
Question: Is it possible somehow to deceive the program and redirect the request to any other site? or are there other options?
