Will the esteemed All tell you how to quickly identify these workers (taking into account the web-oriented interface)? A login-password is not needed, the employees themselves are interested in the entry being recorded in their name.

So far, I'm looking at smart cards, but it's not easy to attach them to the web.

1) You have already mentioned smart cards - you only need the appropriate browser plug-in, but if nothing else remains - a normal industrial solution.
2) But it is much easier to attach a barcode scanner to the web, because they usually work like a keyboard. We stick barcodes on badges for employees. The employee went to the terminal, scanned his badge (that is, in fact, the scanner entered his login!), then manually entered the number into the interface.
3) If there are not so many employees on one computer, but, say, 5 * 5 = 25, then you can stupidly draw a clickable grid on the entire screen with avatars for each in the web interface. If the grid is 5 * 5, then it will be quite difficult to miss. Plus, you can arrange competitions by placing Stakhanovites in the center of the grid, etc.
