How to put WinXP on a computer with Win7?

One program is unstable, it works for me on Win7, and when XP used to be, everything was in order.
Can I install XP so that I can work with it from the win7 window? Well, like I launched the program - processed the necessary files and that's it, closed the window.
VirtualBox heard there is, it can help in this case, is it generally paid, free?

VirtualBox is a free and fairly easy to use virtual machine manager. It is enough just to poke a virtual machine with the mouse, after which it is just as easy to use and manipulate it.
Although, perhaps you should look for the reasons for the instability of the program, and not install a separate system for it?
