How to protect content?

Hello everybody! I have a question about content protection: literally in a week a portal will be launched, the main value of which is not so much a convenient search as content: text and photos . I have been collecting it for more than 7 months (one can say bit by bit) and I really, really don’t want someone to use the fruits of such hard work on their resources. The programmer who helped me, in response to my question about content protection, said that if they wanted to, they would still drag it away, so there was no point in straining too much. What do you recommend? There must be some way?

Technically, you will not be able to protect yourself from content theft, since you publish this content, i.e. provide free access to content.
And on the Internet, everything gets worse - when viewing a site, each user copies your content to his computer (this is done automatically by the browser) and views it.
Therefore, there remains one way of protection - legal, but that's another story ...

It is impossible to protect, but you can do everything right and get the most out of the results of your work.
The best protection for your content is good indexing. Typically, search engine algorithms accurately determine the source of information.
So it's better to focus on getting the project well indexed. This will guarantee that most users will find exactly your project, and not copies of it.
If the information has been prepared for a long time, then you should not publish everything at once. You need to gradually collect your audience giving it information of interest.
Any high-quality resource on most topics is, first of all, the administration and the audience.
The content itself, apart from the project where it is created, is almost always useless.

I would venture to suggest that we are talking about text content. If so, then it is really difficult to protect yourself from his theft. Your programmer is right about that. If your content is unique, then take all measures to get your site indexed by search engines before a crowd of people comes to the portal and takes everything to the corners. Those. if the project is new, do not rush to advertise it until the search engines index the site. What will it give? This will ensure that other sites that have copied your texts will no longer be the source of the text. Search engines keep track of who is the source and who is the copy-paste and accordingly ranks the sites in the search results.
From young clumsy will save JavaScript forbidding to copy the text. But this will not save from those whose browser knowledge is slightly above average. They can easily bypass this protection. The banal inscription that when copying information it is necessary to place a link to the source is ineffective, but nevertheless place it. There are still conscientious people.
And if you just “collected” content bit by bit, then why do you forbid others to do it? Surely you copied some parts of information from other sites. Leave this opportunity to others. Don't be greedy. Maybe someone needs only 2 paragraphs from your article for their report or abstract or something else? It is better to make sure that your portal is interesting and convenient and people go to read to you, and not to other resources. Again, make sure your site is indexed before content gets pulled. There are several methods for this.
If we are talking about images, then banal watermarks (although they spoil the appearance)

Protect content from copy-paste?
Don't make fun of my slippers. Anyone who needs it will still find how to copy it.
If you have a really worthwhile site, then just ask when copy-pasting to link to the source. If you want to make a complete anal fencing, then no one will need your site.

I apologize in advance if you consider this nonsense a waste of time, but here is www.ajeno.ru/anticp/ an example that will make life a little more difficult for those who want to copy your content. But again, there is a downside to the coin, such text will not be understood by search engines.
