How to properly wake up NAS via Wake-On-LAN over the Internet?
I managed to buy such a NAS Synology DS218 before the price increase.
Everyone is happy - everything is cool!
I do not plan to work in 24/7 mode. It's easier for me to turn it on at the moment I need or for the period of time I need - so the disks will live longer and the device itself.
I want to configure wake -on-LAN Wake-On-LAN
NAS-connected by wire to the MikroTik RB951Ui-2HnD router I enabled the Wake-On-LAN
function in the Synology settings .
I tried the command in MikroTik: Synology woke up! Everything works within the local network - cool! How to wake up the NAS over the Internet now?
tool wol interface=bridge mac=XX:XX:XX:XX:XX:XX
And how can I configure it so that random "shooting" on the ports of my router from the Internet does not turn it on?

No, discs will not last longer if they stop then spin up. For disks, the ideal option is when they are launched and they are constantly spinning.
As for the fact that the NAS itself will live longer - the same is mythological)
You need to wake up on LAN ... otherwise any call to the forwarded port will wake up the device, which is logical
. So, as an option, raise the VPN on Mikrotik and go through the VPN. then from the outside the port to the NAS is closed, and when connected via VPN it will wake up)
Actually, about the pros and cons of falling asleep have already been painted.
But about the implementation of non-sleeping during scanning - for a long time there has been such a thing as port knocking
, that is, to the best of your paranoia, you can set a sequence of port numbers and wake up only when accessing this sequence.
Sample for Mikrotik
The question is not clear, you enter via ssh and wake up the device, no accidental inclusions.
