How to properly update mariadb (minor versions)?

Good day. Ask the experts for clarification. What is the correct way to update MariaDB minor versions? There is Dedian 9 with MariaDB (from the MariaDB repositories). Updates are coming. I usually updated like this https://mariadb.com/kb/en/library/documentation/ma...

  • made a backup
  • deleted the old version (with base)
  • rolled a new one and restored from a backup.

But somehow it's dreary, it feels like for minor versions it's in vain and a lot of extra gestures.
Can it be simple sudo apt full-upgrade && sudo mysql_upgrade?

For minors, the usual update will work quite well, why these extra gestures?
