How to properly update applications through GPOs that are installed before the GPO?

I have Skype and I want to update it. I created a package with .msi, assigned it, and take it and just install it on the side and now there are 2 Skype on your computer. In the properties of the program package, I found a tab with updates, but as far as I understand, you can only update the installed via GPO. How to proceed in such a case?

Once I experimented with installing 1C through GPO and here are brief conclusions:

  1. If 1C is installed "manually", then when applying the policy, it will be installed again, over the existing version.
  2. 1C installed via GPO is updated with a newer version without problems when updating via GPO. It is possible to leave both versions (old and new) on the computer, or delete the old one and leave only the new one.
  3. If an update policy for an already deployed package is set, then when it is applied to a computer with "manually" installed 1C, the version of 1C from this package will be installed. In theory, the "manually" installed old version will also remain (too lazy to check).
