How to properly train an svm classifier?

Good day, I don’t really understand one point in machine face recognition
Let’s say there is a processed image using HOG, there is a HOG face template

But to train the svm classifier, as I understand it, you need a lot of different images
How in this case to compare the original HOG face transformation with a template HOG face and get a yes/no answer?
