How to properly install GoTour locally?

The documentation says
To run the tour locally, you'll need to first install Go and then run:

$ go get golang.org/x/tour

This will place a tour binary in your workspace's bin directory.

GOPATH I have set /home/user/go

so after the above command I get in the folder resp. module, but when I try to run gotour, it swears that it cannot find the acc. resources and asks if I set GOPATH & GOROOT correctly
