How to properly install drivers on AMD so that you do not catch a black screen when updating the kernel?
HP Pavilion g6-1215er
AMD Radeon HD 6470M
Recently, without knowing such a problem, I got a black screen. Drivers, of course, downloaded from off. site.
After completely reinstalling the system and sitting on the Open Source X server X.org
Now I watch movies and sometimes artifacts appear. Somehow I don't feel like myself. I want to go back to off. drivers and at the same time protect yourself from a black screen.
Now the kernel in the system is: Linux 3.18.1-031801-generic
Ubuntu Mate 14.04 x86

Install the kernel 3.18, the latest version of Mesa (connect the xorg-edgers repository) - and you can continue to sit open if you don’t play too demanding games - you won’t notice a difference in performance, and it’s very unlikely that you will catch a black screen.
And yes, reinstalling the system is hardcore. Why didn't you install 14.10?
