How to properly do svn checkout in ubuntu 12.04?

Hello! Can't checkout on ubuntu 12.04 which I installed on VMware workstation.
Installed like this:
sudo apt-get install subversion libapache2-svn
Everything seems to be installed well.
I'm trying to checkout like this:
svn co http://repoUrl
Writes OPTION 'myUrl' : could not connect to server (myUrl)
On windows, using tortoise svn, everything goes well, I get files without problems.

Is networking working in VMware? Can you open http://repoUrlit with a browser?
