How to programmatically enable SPDIF output directly from Realtek chip?
Motherboard AsRock Wolfdale1333-D667, and video card 9800GT
Problem: no sound via HDMI
I know that the problem is in the video card, for the solution you need to connect it to the SPDIF output on the motherboard. Which is not on this one. But I found the necessary SPDIF OUT contact in the datasheet for the ALC662 chip, I think to solder wires to it, but there is an opinion that this output is disabled by software, by the manufacturer of the mat. fees. Literally I was told "99% that it is deactivated in the configuration register"
I don't know what kind of register, where, and how it can be edited. This is the crux of the matter.
I know how to solder, if I need to get a programmer.

If the video card is equipped with an HDMI output and an audio chip, and in devices it is seen as a second sound card (for example, as "Nvidia high definition audio"), then the sound should be output via hdmi. Look at the audio output settings in the system, the built-in system sound has nothing to do with it.
The HDMI standard for video cards with audio on the motherboard does not intersect in any way (well, not at all), so it’s unnecessary to solder anything there. So, as already mentioned above, look for the sound on the video card. Maybe your firewood on the video card is crooked or the version is not the same. Also, sometimes you need to manually select the audio signal source if there are several audio cards.
