How to programmatically change the settings of the Android system equalizer?

Please advise, in the description of audiofx.equalizer it says "attaching an Equalizer to the global audio output mix by use of session 0 is deprecated", but I see working equalizer applications in the store. How to programmatically record new system equalizer settings so that they affect music playback through third-party players? That is, in fact, write your own equalizer. What APIs can be used?
