I will definitely ask basic questions about the network, the osi model, what tcp and udp packets consist of.
Most questions are not answered, but if you need to pull cables and configure routers and get connected, this is not a problem. If he wants to grow, he will understand. I also evaluate candidates, you need to understand that you are not the only one who comes to the interview.
But if they don’t answer me what dns is and can’t explain that 10.0.0.4 and 10.0.1.7 (with a /24 mask) are different subnets, then it’s such a thing - after that about all sorts of containers, orchestrators, monitoring and others Complex services do not make sense to ask at all.
