Server Intel Xeon E3-1230/8Gb/Sata 2x1Tb. Will be used as a web host. How to partition sata 2 x 1Tb for software RAID1 in Ubuntu Server 14.04? I tried to mark it myself, it didn’t work ((. Perhaps something better than RAID1 will be, for example, mark disks, one for needs, the second for backups ??? Sorry, newbie !!!

You make the 1st partition small (512MB - 1024MB) - it will be /boot
2nd partition you make all the remaining space - it will go under LVM.
you combine it all with the help of mdadm and some shamanism in raid1 arrays you
get
md0 /boot
md1 PV LVM
Then you cut the root partition into LVM and the rest as needed.
