Is there an inexpensive recipe for a usb modem + external antenna (active or passive) that will allow you to get a reliable connection? I don't even count on fast internet. It is desirable that it be portable: I arrived, attached the antenna to the window, connected it to the modem, plugged the modem into the laptop, and you work.
