How to organize geographically distributed repository mirrors?

Colleagues, hello everyone.
I am in search of best practice, in organizing a set of mirrors for the repository.
There is a central apt-repository that does not hold the load, >10000 calves from all over the world :) it is sucked. Packages are compiled into this repository quite often, but the packages are not very large in size, in general.
Actually a question in how you would organize mirroring? Especially interesting are the reviews of those who have already encountered a similar problem.
