How to organize an email open count in a “manual” email distribution?

Colleagues, it became necessary to compare the OpenRate parameters of email newsletters made in two different ways: through mailChimp and through a regular mail program. Don't ask why.

If everything is clear with the first method (the corresponding reports are in the service), then with a regular letter it is not very clear. How to get read data? I read somewhere that you can insert an image from some server into a letter and somehow get the number of requests for this image in GA. Can you tell me?

The vast majority of email clients today block this kind of images for security purposes, so alas.

I won’t tell you how to implement it, but it only works with an error.
MailWizz also reads the number of openings, maybe also according to this principle. Although mailer manuals say that they cache the image on the first download.
through a regular mail program - here I can only tell you where you can look as a bonus - there are on the network, I don’t remember the addresses for a long time it was, plugins for chrome and google mail for tracking .. The method is the same - it’s 1 in runet mine - this is pulling the picture.
