How to organize a video surveillance system?
Tell me how best to organize a video surveillance system in the store. You must be able to connect via the Internet (there is a dedicated ip). No more than three cameras are planned in the store.
My first thought was to use Skype + webcam, but there is only one camera. There was also an idea to use ordinary webcams + webcamXP.
Can someone suggest a better way? Preferably the cheaper the better.

Do not fence the garden with webcams, it is better to buy a ready-made 4-channel DVR with a web interface (from 4 tr.).
You can use the ivideon.ru service .
Install Ivideon Server on the computer from which the broadcast will go and add both Web and IP cameras to it.
You can buy a NAS with the ability to connect IP cameras and a license for the required number of cameras. It both stores and the server. If you do not need to store, then you can simply forward different ports in the gateway to different cameras and contemplate from any browser. The disadvantage of this method is more expensive IP cameras.
Somewhere on Habré there was an article about an interesting inexpensive and convenient service that provides such services ... You have to search.
Stupidly and by the way, take cheap IP cameras, for example Long-like ones and write through standard programs to a regular computer located where the thread is remotely.
And I personally do not trust IP cameras. There were no such that would not hang and they did not have to run and reboot. Therefore, either a normal DVR with network access or the same Goal with a board for 4 cameras + some kind of VNC. But the most important thing is the ability to export video recordings of the incident, otherwise there is no point in video surveillance at all. Plus, it's a store.
I can suggest installing zoneminder on a regular computer and connecting cameras to it. If necessary, it will be possible to set certain cameras for recording.
I use linux + motion for a little video surveillance. It is configured in half an hour, it has been working stably for two years, probably.
here is my article about automating video processing of the video archive habrahabr.ru/post/134440/
well, zoneminder for online viewing, yes.
If your task is to do everything without external IP addresses, do not pay for a cloud service and do not install / configure a local server under linux, then you can use the free Home Security Camera program.
Create your YouTube channel and enter the broadcast key in the Home Security Camera program.
