Given: an iron dedicated server, 1 static external IP on it and the desire to organize a router that will provide the functions of the router itself, VPN server and firewall.
What are the options?
Is it possible to create a virtual machine inside Proxmox (mikrotik or any open source solution on linux) and direct all traffic there first?

Mikrotik, PfSense, OPNSense, ... yes, a lot of them, or bare *nix, if you know how to configure
