How to organize a proxy server in an enterprise?

Good afternoon.
There was a need to install a proxy server in the company.
Tell me on what will be more convenient to deploy it?
Now there is a Cisco 1921 Router and that's it.
I see two options for the development of the event:
1) CISCO ASA
2) Raise a proxy server on UNIX/Windows (3proxy, Freebsd 10 (squid+sams2)) on a separate server

work comfortably with both?
Will handle a lot of traffic?
ASA what version? What capacity will a dedicated server have?
If the ASA is still warming the air and the model with the version is not old (the old ones have criticals) - put it on.
If you want to save money - put the gateway on a freighter, but there software performance will be lower
