How to optimize Firebierd 1.5.4 performance?

Good time of the day!
There is a warehouse program running on FB 1.5.4
With a base of 68 gig, the improvement in speed was with an increase in memory from 8 to 16 gig
, the base is spinning on SAS 15k
. It is planned to increase the base up to 150 gig. What to do with the disk subsystem? SSD? hybrid RAID? RAM Disk?
You can catch up with memory up to a terabyte - it's just a matter of money
Prots can be played with a smaller number of cores and a higher frequency, although in fact it also rests on money
But ssd is too expensive to change in a year or two, costing at least 20tr

Find a bottleneck and improve it. What in your case it will be io, memory, who knows? What is your load profile, what data, what queries?
There are no universal optimization rules.
Maybe, in general, you can somehow remove part of the data, or transfer it somewhere to the "archive".
PS ramdisk and database are not compatible things. If the bottleneck is io, then an SSD with such volumes is not at all expensive.
