How to open a new tab in the browser through js without going to it, if possible?

Hello. Help to deal with the problem. Is there a way to open a tab through JS in the browser, but not go to it, i.e. stay on the old one?

As far as I understand, this is not possible, but there is another way
. See how aviasales does when the "Show hotels in a new window" checkbox is checked (it is checked by default)
It opens a new tab of the same site (but on a different page), and on the previous makes a redirect
