Never use the built-in Google Sitemap on stores with more than 10,000 items. Get an error Fatal error: Maximum execution time of 30 seconds exceeded in... . It's better to use a paid module, like my Branched Sitemap .
For small stores that use the built-in Google Sitemap, you also need to use another free Yandex Sitemap opencart extension to generate a sitemap for Yandex (which does not accept image tags).
Accordingly, it is better not to write the sitemap address in robots.txt , but send it to the Google and Yandex webmaster tools separately.
