How to make weapons render on a separate layer?

I already googled this topic, but still nothing works.
I made two cameras: one main, the other for weapons.
1) Scripts and an audio listener hang on the main one. It also renders all layers except for the weapon layer.
2) The weapon's camera is a child of the main and a parent of the weapon itself. Renders only the weapon layer, of the components only the Camera has. For the Background Type, I chose Uninitialized. Depth is higher than the main one.
3) The weapon, respectively, is marked with a special layer.
Bottom line: when I start the game, I see only the skybox and ui, and the weapons and other objects on the stage simply disappear.
