How to make two pull requests on github?

Made some time ago a pull request to one of the projects. It has not yet been accepted or refused to be accepted.
Now I have made another revision, logically unrelated to the previous one, but it is impossible to make another request. My commit itself appeared in a previous pr.
What is the correct way to send two unrelated commits to one project?

Open another thread and submit a PR from it.
If you submitted a PR and it's still open, then any changes you make in that thread go into the PR until it's rejected or accepted.
