does anyone know how to make this slider? Just center the image in the middle and bring the entire slider completely off the screen?

I would try to do this: I would create a general wrapper, put a block with text into it (which you have on the left), and to the right one more block - this will already be a container with a slider. How to make a slider, read Slick's documentation. No absolutes are needed here, maybe the control buttons are taken out and then, hardly.
