How to make nvidia driver work in ubuntu games?

I installed eurotruck simulator, launched it and everything seems to work, only it lags a lot. I read on this site how to install the nvidia driver https://losst.ru/ustanovka-drajvera-nvidia-v-ubunt...
Then I rebooted, and the following command confirmed that the nvidia driver was being used

and installed the driver with one command
sudo apt install nvidia-current
Then I started the game, but the driver does not work, everything lags.
It seems to me that I did something wrong, there is some kind of snag here.
