Turn off monitor after - Never.
Also check what you have in the "Schedule".
It is advisable to read the manual by pressing the symbolic button - "?".

The schedule is empty. There was no such trouble on Mountain Lion: the monitor turned off, fell into sleep mode, BUT it did not turn off (did not kill all processes), which, in fact, is required =)
