How to make mail() work in XAMPP?

Found answers for windows, how to set it up on linux. I didn't find the sendmail.ini file at all

I don’t remember about XAMPP, but on OSPanel (aka OpenServer, it seems to work out of the box). The only thing that of course would be nice to raise the local mail server. So I did it by the way: OpenServer + hMailServer on Windows: mail both leaves and comes, both outside and inside.
