How to make in the windows 7 panel, the buttons of the launched application in two rows

In XP, when the panel is located at the bottom and its height is doubled, the buttons for running programs become two rows, which was convenient at high resolutions.
Now, with the general popularization of widescreen monitors, the win7 panel, which is initially thick, takes up a lot of space from below. When placed on the left or right, the situation improves, but with a small height, the icons of running applications fill up all the available space very quickly and start to scroll, which makes me very angry.
I tried to stretch the panel in width, the buttons just become wider, using small icons is not an option, the width of the buttons does not decrease, and it becomes more difficult to click on them.
The best solution is to arrange the buttons in two rows.

Maybe someone did this or found how to do it, quick googling had no effect.

I don’t quite remember how it was in XP, but it seems like the second row appeared there only after the first one was filled. It's the same in Win 7 now.

Here's an ambush! In Human Windows XPI, the buttons could be arranged as you like! And in this overseas Windows 7, in general, everything is not like people's! Who invented it at all? And these monitors are their widescreen. Who needs them like that?
In general, isn't it easier to get used to a new one?

dexpot for multiple desktops. I rarely use it, but basically one row is enough even on a laptop.

If you switch to the classic interface and in the "taskbar and start menu properties" select "small icons", then it should work. At least it looks very similar to XP for me. If these two steps do not help, then I can dig further, maybe I set up something else for this somewhere.

Right-click on the panel and uncheck "Lock the taskbar". Then aim at the edge and drag it up. Here you will have 2 rows.
