How to make hosts work correctly?

Good afternoon, ladies and gentlemen.
I was extremely surprised by how hosts work on Debian.
the following line:
127.0.0.1 google.ru
I type in the address bar of the browser "google.ru" - it works.
I type "google.ru/", more precisely, the browser itself auto-completes the URL and inserts this slash - Google calmly opens, as if nothing had happened.
What could be the reason for this, and how to fix it?

If not a cache, then look at the requests in the "Developer Tools".
Maybe the browser substitutes www.google.ru or something else.
