How to make FreeBSD and IDE HDD friends?
There is an IBM 2628... (Looks like a battered nuclear briefcase without a handle) Doesn't want to be friends with anything other than Vin (up to xp inclusive)...
Then he lacks RAE ( What kind of lightweight linux exists for Pentium III (non- pae)? ) ... then something else ....
I start FreeBSD 10.2 mem-stick (like a bootable USB flash drive), I get to the screen with a devil, I go into multiUser, lines run ...
From a certain moment they ran
(aprobe0:ata1:0:1:0): ATAPI_IDENTIFY. ACB: a1 00 00 00 00 40 00 00 00 00 00 00
(aprobe0:ata1:0:1:0): CAM status: Command timeout
(aprobe0:ata1:0:1:0): Error 5, Retries exhausted

FreeBSD not FreeBCD :) try slacks or linux mint with easy interface ala mate
FreeBSD 5 from a flash drive - hardly. I don’t know about 10.x, but in 9.x they definitely didn’t remove IDE support anywhere - they just unified it somehow. You can try to boot from FreeBSD 8 - there is still an old installer and in my opinion this unification was not there and flash drives were already supported.
