How to make css variables work in older browsers?

css variables not working in react app on ios 8 in safari and ie10. I use css modules as an approach throughout the application. Replace variables with hardcode - the worst option, the project is at the mvp stage, it is constantly being redesigned.
What are the options for solving the problem for older browsers, so that native variables would work?
