How to make an animation for flipping tabs?

I found tabs, but they are without animation when flipping. I would like to add something. Here are the tabs. I want to understand the very meaning of what and how to animate, and then I will do it myself. Preferably with css. To me at least a soft appearance or something like that would not just turn over.

In the example, the easiest way is to change jquery: instead of show/hide, use fadeIn/fadeOut, as an example of a simple easy-in-/easy-out.
