How to make a sim link correctly?

Hello.
There are two domains, with the same content.
In one domain there are files of great weight identical to another domain.
I need to make a symbolic link from domain 1 to domain 2, and so that when accessing domain 1 or 2, these files are available, tell me how to do it right?
I tried to do this with examples from Google, but for some reason I get an error (File not found), although I see on the server that the link has been created.

soft link - original rights are used
hard link - own access rights.
for a soft link, it is necessary that the user from which the 1st site works has access to the files of the 2nd. And catalogues.
Well, essno - it all works if it's one physical server (or vds)

If these are "two domains with the same content" - then place them in the same directory, then they will simply be identical.
