How to make a selection of an arbitrary area on the map?

Good day. Need the ability to select on the map (Yandex.Maps) an arbitrary area (polygon). How can this be implemented? I didn't find anything in the API manual except this . Who was engaged in similar, in which direction to dig? Is it possible to implement this using native means of the Yandex.map api? Thank you.
