How to make a hard drive "bootable" in ubuntu?

Hello everyone, dear comrades, please help with solving the problem, there is a certain cd disk on which the linux image is recorded, and there is a hard disk, you need to make the hard disk as bootable as the cd disk with this image. Please tell me where to dig. Thank you all in advance for your replies.

install Linux from the CD to the hard one - and it will set all the parameters on its own :)
If the CD is used in live mode, then launch the disk partition editor - parted or gparted for GUI, and mark it as "bootable" on the desired partition of the hard disk.

For example, I will put the label "bootable", and then what? Will I need to copy the contents of the disk to the "boot partition"?

If the system is UEFI, then:
0) Make sure that the partition table is GUID (instead of MBR)
1) Create a FAT32 partition
2) Set the ESP flag on the partition (in gparted, for example)
3) Throw the contents of the disk there (this is suitable for Ubuntu, and for Windows), we ignore symbolic link errors when copying
Works with both USB flash drives and hard drives, there can be an arbitrary number of such partitions, you can make a flash drive / hard drive with a bunch of different Windows / Linux distributions.
