How to make a full-fledged website from vds and domain?

Noob question
There are vds on debian and a domain with freenom. I am a complete noob in site building and I want to make a site with a stub out of it, at least, but in general I would like opencart. Advise resources or explain plz

In the domain control panel, register a DNS A-record pointing to the external ip of your vds. Install a web server on vds, for example nginx. Throw a site on the server, or at least a stub.
If you want opencart - look for instructions on how to install opencart. The database still needs to be installed.
In nginx, set up server and location to serve up your site. In general, the topic is extensive, read articles and documentation.
