How to make a device for transmitting and receiving information?

Good evening, I have a scanner at work that constantly lacks a lace. I want to make a wireless handheld device that the scanner can connect to. When reading a barcode, this device (station) would transmit this information via radio signal to another device that is connected to the computer.
Scanner <-> Device 1 ~~~ Device 2 <-> Computer

Devices can be replaced with minicomputers.
Or look for wireless signal extenders for your scanner interface.
