By default, the captcha module uses a challenge in the form of a simple mathematical example. Additionally, the kit comes with the image captha module - a classic version with character recognition in the picture (it is quite flexibly configured). Additionally, the recaptcha module is installed - probably the best option for today.
The option with colored squares - it is obvious that you need to develop it specially.
If the budget does not allow such a feature as the development of a custom module, use recaptcha and don't worry.
