Not exactly about backup, but. I tasted the charms of systemd-homed, it turned out to be very convenient in terms of the fact that the whole hamster lives in a file (it can be a directory, or it can be encrypted) and stores not only files but also the user himself with groups and rights for him. I just copy the file to an external drive and that's it. In the case of recovery, you simply install the system and upload the hamster file, you do not need to make any gestures with the creation of a user and so on.
Similarly, I try first of all, if possible, to edit the software / demon configs in the hamster, again for the sake of portability.
In general, for backups and subsequent recovery / rollback, it greatly simplifies the task.
