How to make a 5GHz router out of a 2.4 GHz router?

There is a Wi-Fi router ASUS RT-N12 operating in the 2.4 GHz frequency range. Since I am a student and live in a hostel, there are 1000 Wi-Fi routers per square meter. Of course, this is a joke, but at the moment there are 20 active wi-fi networks in the "field of view" of my laptop. Twenty Carl!!!
With such "pollution" there is no question of any quality of the signal, because they all work (I'm sure one hundred percent) in the 2.4 GHz band. Nobody cares about this .. and everyone takes the cheaper router.
The option of buying a new router with support for 2 bands does not suit me, because. for me it is painfully expensive (from 6 up to 20 thousand rubles for a router, I am not ready to lay out).
Is it possible to raise this frequency? Change what in the router itself? Or solder something...
I tried to use a more or less free channel using InSSIDer. But with so many networks... it doesn't really help.
Correct me, or tell me .. if I misunderstand or say something wrong.
Thanks in advance! :)

Throw the cable and don't worry.

Something I doubt the feasibility of "solder what ..." for a reasonable budget =).
Maybe a closer look at the market.
You can also look at our Chinese friends .

Overclock! (joking) :-)
And besides jokes, try to change the antenna to a directional one with a higher gain.

It seems that one cannot do without a global soldering of the router, but seriously, if this router is not a slaughtered router of an older model, then there is no point in trying.

It's unrealistic. Look for used 5GHz routers, look for them in China, put more powerful antennas on your 2.4GHz (this will give a more reliable signal to your access point) ...
Drop the university, educate yourself.
Go to work... Earn money for a router :)
Look for another hostel / rent an apartment where there is no such crowded Wi-Fi.
Agree with your neighbors to take a quicker rate for two and use a waffle from it. If many people do this, the situation will be much better for everyone.

Tighten all the walls with a metal mesh - a Faraday cage is the best remedy for interference :)
If it's not a secret, what kind of wi-fi card is installed in the laptop?

This option store-xiaomi.ru/router-xiaomi-mi-wifi-mini will be cheaper and less time-consuming

5GHz is always more expensive. Your router is simple and cannot be modified. To improve data transmission over the air, the power of the router must be DECREASED.
Total: throw a cable or buy a new router
